    Stump grinding only

Not a side service behind tree work. It is the whole job, and the whole focus.

  • 03

    Local & minority owned

Serving our community as a minority-owned business local to the South Bay.

What we do

Stump grinding for real-world sites.

  • A small tree stump in a residential lawn, ready for grinding.

    Small stumps

Single ornamentals, hedge stumps, and leftovers from an old removal. Quick jobs, priced honestly, done in one visit.

  • A large-diameter tree stump being ground down.

    Large stumps

Mature oak, pine, and eucalyptus. From our very first job, we've been handling the big boys.

  • Surface roots running across a lawn before grinding.

    Surface roots

Lateral roots lifting lawn, walkways, or beds taken down flush so the finished grade actually sits flat.

  • A narrow side gate and paved side yard leading to a back garden.

    Tight access

Narrow side gates and enclosed backyards. We can fit any standard 36″ gate and access your hard-to-reach stumps.

  • Close grinding work alongside finished hardscape.

    Precision grinding

Close work against foundations, fences, hardscape, and irrigation, without collateral damage to what stays.

  • A commercial property grounds serviced by Bay Stump.

    Commercial

HOAs, property managers, and landscape contractors. Multi-site scheduling, easy contracts, and the paper trail you need to push through the biggest projects with ease.

FAQ

Common questions.

What to expect before the grinder arrives.

How do I get a quote?
Text or email a photo of the stump with its widest measurement and a shot of the access route. Most quotes come back the same or next day. Larger or trickier jobs may need a quick look in person before the price is locked in.
How deep do you grind?
4–6″ below grade as standard, which is enough to sod, plant, or pave over. Deeper grinding is available if you are putting in footings or a structure.
Do I need to be home?
Usually not. As long as we have clear access to the stump and somewhere to park, most jobs can be done without you there. We confirm when we are on the way and when the work is finished.
Can you reach a backyard with narrow access?
Usually. Send a photo of the gate or side yard with a rough width and we will match the machine to the opening. Access gets planned before we show up, not improvised on the day.
Do you remove the entire underground root system?
No, and no stump grinder does. Grinding removes the stump and the surface roots that interfere with landscaping. The deeper root system stays in the ground and decomposes naturally.
